For the second consecutive year, Daniela Treija and me were commissioned to create the garments of the main acts of the dreamy surrealist music manifestation ‘Ezera Skanas’ (from Latvian “Sounds of The Lake”)
Ezera Skanas is a musical, visual and metaphysical event that starts before the sunrise - 5:00 AM. Events unfold on the stage in the middle of a distant lake. It is momentary in its nature, it resembles a dream. Without formal speeches, without any names and rules it remains a personal and unifying experience.
As the theme of the 2017 event had the guideline of ‘Village of the Sky’ we intended to approach this in a literal sense and define each character of the musician and dancer as someone with a functional role within a context of a village. Featuring the award winning ‘Latvian Radio Choir’ as the bureaucrats, Matīss Čudars as the all capable technician, Mirel Wagner as the Sheppardess, Klāvs Liepiņš as the always moving guard of the sun.
